In Power(less), residents of the forest feel the benefits and repercussions of a technology driven landscape change in their natural habitat. Using the medium of stop motion, the landscape is physically transformed to contemplate the life and force of technology and its integration to the means of our survival.
About the Director and Animator:
Cristen Leifheit is a stop motion video artist based in Chicago, IL. Her videos have been shown internationally in Spain in addition to various gallery screenings in Chicago, IL and the Midwest. Her videos emphasize bugs as characters and themes that include paranoia, life and other cycles, and survival. Cristen’s recent work has evolved to include the transformation of the physical landscape and its disruption to habitat cycles. The medium of stop motion creates a surreal and transformative quality of the work that usually falls between the state of narrative film and experimental moving image.
